G’day! When I was writing my books on our motorcycle history I often came across the name Owen Land. By all accounts, verbal and written, Owen was a real character.
I recounted in Volume 2 of Potholes a good story of Owen being pursued by an officer of the law who tipped over the sidecar he was chasing on. Owen gentlemanly came back and rendered assistance, righting the outfit and picking up tools etc. The Policeman asked Owen if he had a pencil and yes, Owen did. The Policeman borrowed it and then wrote out a ticket and issued it to Owen.
Owen rode Solo but was a good passenger (co rider) too. Had some nice photos given to me by his son David. Here is a ripper of Ron Hellyer with Owen on the chair.
