SAd to record the passing of Joan Coombe in her 102nd year. Joan and her husband Basil came to Mt Gambier c1956 and lived next door to Alex Campbell – they hit it off immediately and it became a very strong family friendship. The Mount Gambier Motor Cycle and Light Car Club were a little bit overwhelmed at the time with the enormity of such a small group of members trying to create a road race track out of a 40acre scrub block. Basil was a great organiser and with Joan they injected some new life into the Club. Basil and Joan were great friends with Frank McNamara too and they are pictured at a Club dinner. Over the years they held many positions in the Club and put in many, many hours into the dream. Joan’s funeral will be held Tuesday April 29 at 11.00am at the Carinya Gardens Cemetery. Sincere condolences to the Coombe family. RIP Joan..
