G’day! Well, some bad news, then some good news! Dear Harry Vause, one of the very early Mt Gambier Motor Cycle & Light Car Club members and the only remaining person to have walked with Laurie, Maurie & Frank over the scrub block now Mac Park has been hospitalised and had to undergo surgery.
The good news is, Harry is recovering well and is reportedly sitting upright and is quite chatty. Harry is in Surgical 5 at the Mount Hospital and would love for anyone to drop in and visit. Harry rode competitively on a Compy Matchless and socially, with his late wife Eleanor on an Ariel with Dusting sidecar. The pair ‘manned’ the gates at Bucks Hill Scrambles in it halcyon days.
Harry performed very well at the Borderline Speedway when it first opened, “winning a few bob to help out the income in those days” he said. Harry will be missed at Mac Park this weekend. Keep on keeping on Harry!
